One of the most crowded beaches in the area known for its fishing tradition, devotion to Our Lady of Nazare, and busy shoreline. This is an almost mandatory point of passage, you can see the entire town from Sitio da Nazare. Nazare is the ideal spot for family vacations, or spending time with friends, or taking a romantic stroll by the sea.
Praia do Norte (North Beach) – an unguarded beach also located in Nazare – is highly popular among fishermen and surfers, or those looking for a peaceful place to rest. Known all around the world for its giant waves that form due to the Nazare Canyon. In 2011, surfer Garrett McNamara surfed a wave that was around 98 ft tall, the greatest wave ever surfed.
