One of the most important fossil records of the Jurassic period is located in the midst of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. The sauropod dinosaurs must have passed through there and left a perpetual record in the form of footprints, which have been preserved in the limestone slabs for over 175 million years.
