This is the greatest oriental garden in all of Europe and it is located at Quinta dos Loridos. Here, Modern and Contemporary Art come together with nature in order to provide visitors with a quiet and peaceful space.
The Buddha Eden Garden was created as a protest against the destruction of the Giant Buddhas of Bamyan (Afghanistan). There are Buddhas, terracotta statues, and sculpted dragons. The garden also includes 600 hand-painted terracotta soldiers, some of which are buried, just like 2200 years ago. This space also includes a few selected pieces from the Berardo Collection by artists such as Joana Vasconcelos, Alexander Calder, Fernando Botero, and Lynn Chadwick. The works are often switched, therefore providing a unique experience every time tourists visit it.
