Information:
The devotion to Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem, in Constancia, is connected to the intense river traffic of goods between the port of this town and Lisbon, which lasted for centuries.
From the danger of navigation came the commitment of seafarers to the Mother of God and their reliance on her protection. The Festivity and Blessing of the Boats, on Easter Monday, are the highlights of this at least bicentennial devotion.
In addition to the religious ceremonies, these Festivities, which take place every year on Easter weekend, count on a long musical programme, food taverns, and a showcase of national handicraft.
During these festivities, this ‘poem town’ is filled with people and colour, with its narrow and steep streets decorated with hundreds of paper flowers.
